This collection draws inspiration from the 13th century custom of carrying precious aromatics in perforated cases or vials, set with healing gemstones to restore the senses and protect the wearer, and the Georgian era’s fascination with scent and symbolism. Each pomander locket serves as both jewellery and personal fragrance diffuser. All have been micro-engineered to open to contain perfume or any tangible memory object. Designed then lost-wax cast in gold or silver, polished and assembled by a single master craftsperson in London, before being bicycled to Hatton Garden for official hallmarking. These unusual locket-pomanders celebrate the beloved animals of British folklore — wearable objects that carry both scent and story.
The locket can also guard a cherished picture, intimate note, a loved one’s hair, or a personal souvenir. Gemstones carry their own meaning: lapis lazuli represents strength, courage, wisdom and truth, its reverse interwoven lattice — a symbol of unity and harmony used since Roman times to protect revered spaces.
