GOLD LEVERET LOCKET (Baby Hare)
GOLD
MADE TO ORDER
9 Carat Gold
Elusive and mysterious, a symbol of eroticism, desire and enchantment.
The Hare can be traced to ancient Roman pottery as a symbol of love, vitality and desire. Revered for its dazzling speed, power, and enigmatic nature, the hare has retained its magical status in folklore and continues to captivate.
This charming Leveret (baby hare) started life as a hand drawn sketch before being realised in wax by a Royal College of Art trained miniaturist sculptor, then cast using the ancient lost-wax technique.
The crouching Leveret is modelled naturally, minutely detailed with paw pads, the hare's broad nose and extra long ears (one raised in alert).
Drawing inspiration from the Georgian era’s fascination with animals and symbolism, the locket is designed to house treasured mementos, a loved ones hair, private love note or secret code.
The chain sits under the collar bone so is visible worn with a shirt or can be layered with longer pendants and chains.
