DESCRIPTION

Euterpe, the ‘Giver of Delight’, presides over music and particularly the flute.

9 or 18 carat gold. The split ring’s elegant setting has an architectural structure that supports the oval bezel, referencing antiquity while keeping clean lines for the modern collector.

It is set with a vintage navy and white Wedgwood Jasperware cameo depicting Euterpe, the Muse of music. Each cameo is a miniature work of ceramic art and a collectible piece of British ceramic history.

LONDON CRAFT

Made to order in London using the traditional lost-wax casting process. Our vintage Wedgwood cameos have been gathered one by one over many years and date from the 1950s to the 1980s. Each motif was sprigged by hand and kiln fired, and the hand-finishing gives every cameo its own character. A single master craftsperson polishes and sets every ring by hand, adjusting the mount to suit each cameo.

The finished ring is taken by bicycle to the London Assay Office in Hatton Garden for hallmarking, continuing a tradition of independently testing and marking precious metals that stretches back more than 700 years. From the first drawing to the final hallmark, every stage takes place within a five-mile radius in London, reflecting Ferian’s commitment to local craftsmanship and enduring British making traditions.

About Wedgwood cameos
Popularised in the 18th century by the Grand Tour and a fascination with Greek and Roman art, cameos were brought to a wider audience by Wedgwood with the creation of Jasperware in the 1770s.
