The Hare is Elusive and mysterious, a symbol of eroticism, desire and enchantment.
Sterling silver with 18 carat gold vermeil interior. Handmade in London and hallmarked at Hatton Garden.
The hare has been a symbol of love, vitality and desire since ancient Roman pottery, and its speed, power and enigmatic nature have kept its place in folklore. This crouching leveret (baby hare) began as a hand-drawn sketch, was sculpted in wax by a Royal College of Art trained miniaturist, and cast using the ancient lost-wax technique. Every detail is modelled naturally, from the paw pads and broad nose to the extra-long ears, one raised in alert.
Drawing on the Georgian fascination with scent and symbolism, the leveret is perforated in the tradition of the pomander. A scented sponge or piece of cotton wool rests in the internal cavity, protected by gold vermeil to prevent oxidation from perfume oils, so your chosen fragrance diffuses gently through the day. Like the hare, scent has a magical quality, transporting us through time and place to recapture precious memories.
The chain sits just below the collarbone, visible with a shirt or layered with longer pendants and chains.

Each micro engineered component is lost wax cast, hand-polished and assembled by a single master craftsperson, then bicycled to Hatton Garden for specialist gilding and hallmarking — all within a five-mile radius in London — reflecting Ferian’s commitment to local artistry of distinction and heritage craft.
