The English have always had a particular tenderness for animals — in folklore, heraldry, and the decorative arts, creatures have long carried meaning: the horse for freedom, the lion for courage, the dolphin for good fortune at sea. This collection celebrates beloved domestic and wild creatures as wearable objects that carry both story and sentiment.
It spans two craft traditions: vintage Wedgwood cameos — including Josiah Wedgwood’s celebrated Stubbs horses — are miniature bas-relief sculptures dating from the 1950s–80s, now preserved by the V&A. Each pomander locket is hand-carved by a Royal College of Art sculptor, lost-wax cast in gold or silver, and assembled to serve as both locket and fragrance diffuser. All pieces are made and hallmarked within a 5-mile radius of London.
